The dashboard is an overview: it shows the state of your school at a glance and links into the areas where the actual work happens.
The line under the greeting
Shows which session and term you're currently in, how many classes you have, and today's date. If it says there's no active session, start one in Settings → Academic year — most of Schola stays idle until a session is running.
Cards
What you see depends on your role, your plan, and which capabilities you've been granted.
- Overview counts — students (with a sex split), classes, subjects, academic year.
- Attendance — today's rate, a short trend, and a link into the register.
- Fees — collection against what's billed. Needs the accounting module.
- Agenda — what's coming up, worked out from your events and term calendar.
- Announcements — the latest posts to your school.
- Quick actions — one-click into the places admins go most.
A card you have no data for either shows an empty state with a link to fix it, or hides itself.
Choosing your cards
On the Pro plan, Settings → Customization lets you pick which cards appear and in what order, per role. Admin, teacher and staff can each have a different layout.
Access is always re-checked when the page loads, so removing someone's capability removes the matching card even if it was saved in a layout.
Teacher and staff dashboards
Teachers see their form classes and subject allocations, with a link into each. If an administrator hasn't assigned anything yet, you'll see a note saying so — there's nothing for you to do until they have.
Staff see one card per area they've been granted: fees, payroll, expenses, results, people, content, roles.
The tour
The first time you open Schola you get a short walkthrough of where everything lives. Skip it whenever you like, and re-run it any time from the support menu in the header (the headset icon) → Show me around again.
If something else is on screen when you arrive — a billing notice, say — the tour waits until you've dealt with it rather than starting underneath.
