Settings → Customization controls your school's colour across the portal and which cards admins see on their dashboard. It's a Pro feature, but the editor is open to everyone — you can try the whole thing and see it live before deciding.
Brand colour
Pick your school's primary colour and the preview updates as you go. It's used for buttons, links, highlights and active states across:
- the portal, for every role
- your sign-in screen
- your public school page
Schola works out the darker shade it needs for hover and pressed states, so one colour is all you choose. Very light colours are adjusted automatically to stay readable.
Dashboard layout
Choose which cards admins see and in what order. Cards you turn off simply don't render.
Some cards need more than a preference to appear. A fees card needs the Accounting module and the Fees permission — the editor tells you which requirements each card has, so a card that stays hidden isn't a mystery.
Saved layouts decide layout only, never access. Every card is re-checked against your plan and the viewer's permissions when the page loads, so someone who loses a permission loses the card with it even though it's still in the saved layout.
Trying it on Starter
The editor, the previews and the colour picker all work on any plan. You'll only hit the limit when you click Save — at that point you'll be asked to upgrade.
If you had customization and your plan later drops, your saved colour and layout are kept but stop being applied; everyone returns to the default. Upgrade again and your settings come back as they were.
