Levels are your grade bands (JSS 1, Primary 3). Classes are the arms within a level (JSS 1A, JSS 1B). Set up levels first — every class requires one.
Set up levels
Go to Settings → Levels.
Schola seeds a default Nigerian ladder — Crèche, Nursery 1–2, Primary 1–6, JSS 1–3, SS 1–3. Edit it to match your school:
- Add a level — type a name in the input at the top and click Add.
- Rename — click the pencil icon next to any level and save.
- Reorder — drag levels up or down using the handle on the left.
- Archive — removes a level from the active list without deleting it. Classes tagged to an archived level keep the tag; new classes cannot use it.
Create classes
Go to Classes, then click New class.
- Enter a Class name — use whatever your school uses: JSS 1 A, Primary 3, Reception, Year 7.
- Choose a Level from the dropdown (your levels list from above).
- Click Create.
The class appears on the Classes page and is ready to receive students and subjects.
After creating classes
- Assign subjects to a class from its detail page — see Add subjects and assign them to classes.
- Enrol students when you add them — see Add students.
- Assign a form teacher from the class detail page.
