Create and share lesson notes

Updated 3 July 2026

Lesson notes are written per topic. Each topic belongs to a subject and a term, and is visible to the students in the assigned class once published.

Go to Teaching, click a subject, and open the Lessons tab.

Create a topic

Topics are grouped under First term, Second term, and Third term headers.

  1. Click New topic under the term you are working on.
  2. Type the topic title (for example, Photosynthesis) and click Create topic.

The topic editor opens.

Edit a topic

Each topic has five sections. Click a section header to expand it and start typing. Content auto-saves 1.5 seconds after you stop typing.

Section Default audience Purpose
Learning objectives Students What students should be able to do after the lesson
Quick notes Teachers only Your own teaching angle and tips — not shown to students by default
Notes Students The main lesson content
Classwork Teachers only In-class exercises — not shown to students by default
Assignment Students Homework or take-home tasks

To change who can see a section, use the visibility toggle next to the section header and switch between Students and Teachers only.

Share a topic to another class

If you teach the same subject across multiple classes, you can share a topic so students in those other classes also see it.

  1. Open the topic and click Manage classes.
  2. Tick the classes to add and click Save.

The same topic content appears for all linked classes. Editing it updates all of them.

Archive or delete a topic

Open the topic menu (⋯) at the top right:

  • Archive — hides the topic from students but keeps it in your list. You can restore it later.
  • Delete — permanently removes the topic. Only available on archived topics with no student views.
