CBT (computer-based testing) lets you set timed, auto-marked exams that students sit on their own devices. Go to CBT in the sidebar.
Question bank
The question bank stores all your questions, independent of any specific exam. Go to CBT → Question bank, pick a subject and level, then switch between two tabs:
- Questions — click New question to write one. Tag it with a topic, difficulty, and term, and mark it Objective (with answer options) or Theory. Questions support markdown formatting.
- Passages & diagrams — click New passage / diagram to create a shared passage or image (for example, a comprehension text with several questions under it). When writing or editing a question, you can attach it to one of these so students see the shared passage above the question.
Click Import / generate to add questions in bulk instead of typing them one at a time — paste from Excel, paste plain text, or have Schola generate a set with AI for you to review before adding.
Exam groups
Exam groups are folders for related exams — for example, Third Term Examinations or Mock WAEC. Only admins can create and manage groups; teachers can open an existing group to add their own exams inside it.
- Go to CBT → Groups and click New group (admin only).
- Give the group a title and optional description.
- Click Create.
Create an exam
Inside a group, click New exam, pick the subject and level it's for (this can't be changed later), then click Create & set up. This opens the exam setup page, where you configure everything before publishing.
Questions
Click the Questions card to pick from the question bank. You can select questions manually (Pick from bank) or use Draw a set to pull a given number of objective questions at a chosen difficulty into your draft — review and adjust the draft before saving; nothing is final until you publish.
Deliver to (arms/classes)
Under Deliver to, tick the classes that will sit this exam. Students in the selected classes see the exam when it goes live.
Schedule
Set an Opens at date and time and a Closes at date and time. The exam is accessible to students only during this window.
Alternatively, enable Practice mode — practice exams have no schedule and students can attempt them any time.

Publish the exam
Once questions, arms, and a schedule are all set, the checklist above the Publish exam button (near the bottom of the setup page) shows all green. Click Publish exam to make it live.
Once published, the exam is accessible to students during the scheduled window. Settings and questions can still be edited until the first student starts.
Monitor
Click Monitor on a published exam to see all attempts in real time.

You can revoke an attempt to let a student retake. For theory questions, click an attempt to open the answer sheet and mark responses manually.
Push scores to the score sheet
After the exam closes, click Push to results on the Monitor page. Select the assessment component (for example, CA2) you want to send the scores to. Schola rescales each student's best-attempt CBT score to fit the component's maximum and writes it to the score sheet.
